Game Review (written by Carty_1997) Added on: 12/06/2006
F-18 interceptor was one of the first games I played. At that time we thought that the graphics were top quality and the game play catching. I spend 100 of hours testing the games limits and found it never to get boring. With different missions and free flight options the game has great potential to capture your interest. The interest level is kept thru out the game and that keeps the interest level high. Only few games have caught my attention like this.
Try flying low with out crashing, fly through the lower flight deck of the carrier. Shoot subs, planes and missiles.
The missions start out with training, through easier missions. You scramble from land bases and a carrier located off the coast of California. Hit the accelerator to catch incoming Mig's, Divert them or bring them down. One mission you have to deploy a raft to save a downed pilot.
Fast action kicks in when you intercept cruise missiles where you have little time to catch and destroy them before they reach their target. It does not make it easier that you only can hit them with your guns.
Manage a "free flight" and let your self run out of gas and see if you can set down on the carrier. There are several different features seen for the first time on this excellent game (for the time).
Many of hours went by just trying to complete the game and it seemed that there were always new things "popping" up. Ctrl+E to eject before the plane hits the ground and you will save your pilot.
The sound side is designed well. With realistic cockpit sounds in and outside the plane makes the game even more fun. Cruise over California, and complete your training. Landing a fast mover is hard, especially when you land on the carrier.
Little known fact. There is a second carrier hidden to the North West in some of the missions. It will take some time to find but you can refuel when you land it.
I salute the makers of this game with a Job well done, you saved me from a lot of boring nights and properly caused a bit of sleep deprivation. I would like to thank the makers of this great game. It got me interested in flight simulators in a way so that it has stuck with me since.

A tour de force flight sim when it was released. It was the game that tipped the scales and convinced me it was time to buy an Amiga. Too bad CH Products never made a Flight-Stick for the Amiga! FYI, I believe it's the precursor to the Jetfighter series of flight sims found on the PC.
