Flight of the Amazon Queen has everything any gamer could want; Amazonians, lederhosen, beef jerky, comedy breasts and a fat mechanic named Sparky. The laughs and the puzzles don’t stop as you trundle your way around the Amazonian jungle trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Super soldier steroids and stuck up actresses who just won’t give your poor guy the time of day are the least of your problems. You will be harassed by missionaries, stung by wasps, married off by voodoo villagers and forced to solve many puzzles ranging from the pretty straight forward to the downright bizarre.
The game itself is set against some pretty impressive (for the time) backdrops, with many interesting characters to interact with and jokes all along the way. Your tasks include making perfume, finding flowers, hair cuts, curing rashes and defiling corpses.
The gameplay of Flight of the Amazon Queen is straight forward and easy enough, the graphics are quite decent and the voices only slightly creepy. The storyline is interesting and has enough comic touches to keep adults and teens interested. I would say that at times the story does lull a little and becomes rather boring. Just when it starts to feel meaty, the game comes to a rather rapid and deflating conclusion. However, there are enough
puzzles to keep you busy for a fair few hours and it is also a game that after a year or so you might just want to go back and play again. I enjoyed this game a lot, mostly due to the Monkey Islandesque wacky extra bits and random encounters and at times witty dialogue. The story lost me a bit towards the end, but like I say it does come to a rapid conclusion, so not all is lost.
From the advertising: Flight of the Amazon Queen is an irrevent pastiche of the adventure serials that were popular in the 1940's.
