Game Review (written by Andrewsnart) Added on: 01/14/2008
When Geoff Crammond's Formula One Grand Prix came out for the Amiga, it was a revolutionary title. absolutely love Formula One and so to be able to play a racing game based upon one of my favorite sports was great.
The way that Geoff Crammond has approached the Formula One Grand Prix Series shows his love for the sport. The detail of this early game is staggering. You can even change the set up of the car until you’re happy with it!
The game is clever in the way it offers the levels.

The game is clever in the way it offers the levels. For a start, you can choose how good the other drivers are - from so slow you're up to first in no time to so quick that you struggle to keep up! You can

also change the amount of driver aids you have at your disposal - from having everything including steering and braking aid and automatic gears, to having nothing - just you and the car!
One of the most difficult driver aids to cope without was the invincibility one! Most driving games at the time allowed you to recover from anything - even crashes where you somersaulted high up into the air and landed on your roof. However, in F1GP, a small crash would leave damage to the body work, seriously effecting your performance. In the event of a large crash your engine would cut out and that would be the end of your race. Try driving round Monaco with no driver aids!
Of course, with invincibility turned on, you could get in your car, drive it backwards and see if you could knock all the other drivers out before the end of the race - great times!
Oh and the game even included multiple players - where each player would drive for a certain amount of time before another player took over. It’s my favorite game and I suggest downloading it to everyone!
