This must have been the first ever first-person shooter that I ever played. I remember the first time I watched the game boot up on my Brother’s Amiga. This game is truly a classic.
Not a lot of people have heard of Hired guns. This being because at the time Doom had been released and people were going mad for that. This was the quiet competitor to Doom and what a competitor it is.
Firstly this game offered something no other first-person shooter of the time could, (and I think since) the ability to play with three of your friends all gathered around the same keyboard watching the same monitor and shouting at each other about what was happening in their characters view screen.
Even if you did not have a few friends that could come round to help you, there was always the ability to take a four man team out on your own and play the strategy game, setting up gun turrets to protect you from surprise attacks, or placing your characters on a form of over watch which allowed them to open fire on an enemy that got to close for comfort.
The storyline is in depth and engaging in ways that modern PC games are only just coming back to. While Doom was a fast paced game that all you really had to do was rush round and shoot anything and everything that moved this is such a different paced game if
you were to rush round more than likely in the first five minutes of the game you would end up with half if not all of your team dead.
Suggest that if you truly want to play this game as it needs to be played grab a coffee machine and plug it in next to your computer and start playing. This game requires you to play deep into the morning and well into the overnight, but believe me when I say that once you start you might not be able to stop yourself.
I can’t think of a better game to write an article about than this one. The graphics although nowadays look extremely blocky and not smooth at all, this doesn’t matter if you really want to try out the mother of all first-person shooters with a nice touch of strategy thrown into the mix then I strongly suggest that you download this one of a kind game.
The game takes the player to the far reaches of the Luyten planetary system. You battle through more than 20 threaters of enlargement, your team of mercenaries test their limits of military prowess.
