Game Review (written by Wjm67x) Added on: 02/23/2007
I first encountered "The Killing game show" on the amiga back in 1990-91 while stationed overseas. This game is one that is so good and so addictive you won't be able to put it down. It's a platformer where you are, from what I guessed from playing it, in a 'game show' kind of like the idea of the 'running man' by Steven King, everyone's out to kill you and it's survive, kill or be killed. You run around, driving what looks to be an ED-209 from Robocop, or a small version of a 'Mad Cat' from battletech.
As you play you will notice several things, one is that there are several keys you need to retrieve to complete the current level of play. Two is that there are enemies that look like skeletal machine gunners(and I even recall seeing some Vietnam elements in what the skeletons had on, like they were dead MIA soldiers or something) that will pop up if you DON'T have the necessary keys and will kill you dead on the spot. And THREE is that the 'water' beneath you will start to very quickly rise. And it may look like water, but it acts a lot more like acid, as it will kill you if you even touch it.
Given this, don't get discouraged, the action is hectic, but extremely fun to play. You run around the levels, shooting at enemies, while shooting stone columns to gain power-ups and keys for the level. The power-ups include: triple-shot, beam shot, and 4-way shot. You can jump from platform to platform, and even stick to certain walls to rise above the waters.
The graphics are excellent, the music fits the tone of the game, and overall it's a game I would heartily recommend for anyone to play.
