Game Review 1 (written by Hushahush) Added on: 01/17/2007
This game is unbelievably addictive and challenging. Anybody out there who won't even acknowledge it as a superpower of strategy games is sadly missing out. There are 4 difficulty settings. Fun, Tricky, Taxing and Mayhem. All in order of easiest to hardest. Fun is the best place to start to get used to the basics of what each command does. Then as you progress through each difficulty your skills and experience will come into play more with every stage. The levels also have scenery that is pleasing to the eye.

The idea is to get the lemmings to blindly walk into their escape hatch, which is in the form of a pyramid, monster's head, pebble archway, and many other designs depending on the theme and design of the level. The game has also evolved onto many platforms and editions, such as the Christmas lemmings edition. All in all it's like buying a bottle of Jim Beam Smacll Batch with some Ballantines and churning them together to make one heck of a fearsome, formidable strategy gaming experience. Without a doubt one of the greats of the old school gaming era. Give it a try today ohohoh.

Game Review 2 (written by Despoteuodia) Added on: 12/25/2006
“Lemmings” is a Classical puzzle/action game.
Basically, you must save the *special* (just to be politically correct) lemmings from running into certain death. You need to save the lemmings because they will just go; walk into oblivion. This is comic in the sense of their lack of thought process. And is overall enjoyable. Most people would rather play later versions; yet, inevitably we all come back to the original.
It has a decent amount of multifarious levels, preventing initial repetitive game-play; however, after beating the game once, you should take a break.
“Lemmings” is unique therefore it deserves recognition. It fits in the Puzzle game category, yet it is unlike other games. It also has an action side to it. While playing you must rush to save the lemmings before they all kill themselves. Its puzzle element is perfectly complemented by its action qualitative ness. The speed keeps the puzzle from being slow and as repetitive.
Lemmings has decent graphics for the era of gaming, however newer versions have improved the game greatly. As far as dos era graphics go, it is excellent, but compared to current games and computer graphics, it can’t compare. If you are the type of person who can acquire nostalgia from antiquated graphics, then you will indeed be brought back by this game; therefore to you i recommend this game. For those of you who hold a higher standard for graphical quality, i recommend a newer version.
Finally the replay value is decent, although, most find it more enjoyable to play other versions as opposed to replaying. After beating the game once, it becomes repetitive; put it away to pick it up later in a few months.
The learning curve is a bit steep at first; however after learning the controls the game is simple. But increasing in difficulty as you go along. The levels are diverse enough to play for a decent amount of time without loss of interest.
Over all 8/10 for puzzle game lovers. if this is not your usual category of game, it is still a nice game and stands out from others and therefore deserves a try.

this is a game that can be played for a while but like most it can get pretty boring. But the good thing about the game is that it is really cool to play and there is education in there. Well it does make you think what you have to do sometimes but if you can get a certain amount of lemmings to the other end of the level without killing, then you will go on to another harder level. But if you do like a laugh you can watch them die in many ways which actually get me a few giggles!
