Rick Dangerous Two - This is one of the best two D games you will ever play in your life. You play the character of Rick Dangerous. He is the Amiga Computer version of Indiana Jones. With a gun rather than a whip and dynamite bombs instead of the little fella from the Goonies, the only things they actually have in common are the hat and the spears and caves that they both trail through.
With very easy controls the game gets very addictive very quickly.
At the start of the first level you will wonder why people rave about this platform game but before long you will as hooked as the rest of us. It is the quirks to the game that make it so addictive. For instance, for each level, you are only given a certain amount of bullets and a pre decided pile of dynamite to use to help you get through each level. So, if you fire off bullets and act trigger happy, you may not be able to complete the rest of that level, have to kill yourself on purpose and start again.
Rick Dangerous and its sequel don’t get to the point where you want to quit however. With new games enjoying 'Artificial
Intelligence', no two games are the same. With Rick Dangerous 2, it's all about memory ad tricks. When the arrow fires down at the very beginning of the game, it will always do that. Enemies will almost always do the same walks and moves to learn. But it gets dull as while you're shooting an enemy, you're ducking under a spear and blowing up a block to crawl under. And every time you die, you think, I can do better next time rather than feel like giving up.
You want Rick to do well and with the fun back drops and sound effects, you want to do well yourself.
As with all 2D games, and any game if we're honest, it can get boring when you get very stuck. But you should be quite far in to the game by this point and that’s why it is challenging you so hard! A jump, crouch, bomb, jump back and leap are so satisfying and gives you a sense of achievement you rarely get these days. And with such easy controls. No two joysticks and 8 buttons here. We're talking arrow keys and up and control to shoot and down and control to leave dynamite - and that's it! Easy to start, hard to put down and fun for all the family. Enjoy!
