Technocop was one of my most played games on the Amiga 500. To start, it was a police chase game with mounted guns on the sports car you drive, chasing criminals to their hide out. The second part of the level, you are the cop chasing them through their hide out, guns drawn shooting all who stands in your way.
The main storyline of the game is that you are a technologically advanced cop (tangent from a Robocop) who is sent out as a lone wolf to bring these nasty criminals to justice.
Some criminals must be brought in alive (where you select on your arm plate a 'net' which basically fired a net from your gun rather than deadly bullets which entangled itself around the criminal.) Others could be dead or alive so these levels you didn’t really have to pay attention to exactly who you are killing; at least if you kill them it’s not a failed mission. There was a fair amount of blood and guts which really added to the fun because there was nothing like it at the time.
The graphics were not ground breaking but very good, sounds were right on the mark but it could have done with some good car chase music The

sound of the canon firing mounted on the car and the hand gun were very good at the time. At the end of the day the game is very repetitive, even though as you progress through the levels, your red sports car gets better weapons such as extensions on the wheels which you can dig into the criminal’s cars.
That’s not to say it isn't fun, but its the sort of game you might sit down for 30 minutes or so and give it a bit of a bash rather than get really into trying to finish the entire game that night The level of violence is probably a little excessive for a lot of people out there and I think that is why this game originally made its mark as being very popular. (A lot in the same way the Mortal Kombat series did with the introduction of fatalities to compete against street fighter.) Shooting someone didn’t leave a little blood; it pretty much ripped them apart only to let their hands twitch for a second before they died.
I think that if you liked the old platform style of games or want to see where game gore really started to come into a category of its own, this game is definitely worth downloading.
