1942 is a great shoot em up game that is vertically scrolling. The game has been set in the era of World War II on the Asian side. The main purpose of the game is to get to Tokyo and destroy all of the Japanese air fleets. As the player you will become the pilot of a plane that looks similar to the Lockheed P-38 Lightning. You will be trying to shoot down all the enemy planes before they get you. There are many great maneuvers to avoid enemy fire, some quite amazing moves that will have you amazed.
There are many power ups available in this game that you can get by destroying the formation of the red enemy planes. Some of the power ups that are available are two machine guns, destroy all planes located on your screen, bonus points and many more great power ups that will assist you in combat.
Throughout the entire game you will take part in thirty-two levels with each individual level having you land on an aircraft carrier. You will then receive a debriefing of the level you just completed and get a briefing for the next mission you are about to take part in.
There are many places that you will be traveling through before you get to your main point of destination. Some of the places
that you will travel through are Midway, Marshall, Attu, and many more. Each has been designed with great detail to the terrains and the overall look of everything. There are a few levels that will have an enemy plane known as the Ayako, which is the Japanese Mother Bomber, which you must shoot down before the level has been completed.
The level of difficulty will increase the further along in the game you get. The planes will become far more aggressive and harder to shoot down. With the increase in difficult in each level, your experience level will grow allowing you to become a lot better at the game by the time you’ve completed it.
1942 is a great arcade action game that has been designed very well. There are so many phenomenal aspects to this game that it does have an endless amount of fun. After you’ve played this game a few times you will find that you are having less difficulty completing the levels, but don’t get too excited because the difficulty will increase on you. If you have enjoyed action packed shooting games in the past and are looking to try one that involves the use of a plane, then this game is for you.
