Game Review (written by Jwilcox1) Added on: 10/16/2006
Sequel to the hit game Forbidden forest, Demogorgon has succeeded in returning, and in the process, has once again taken control of the Forest. Once again, you must take your bow and arrows and venture into the forest to eliminate him once and for all to restore peace to the forest. This came with Cosmi's top 20 games pack for the Commodore 64, which included slinky 'A Clone of Q-Bert', Forbidden Forest, Aztec Challenge, and many others.
You defeat creatures in the overworld to get gold arrows.
If lost you either get the message "The Game Is Lost" if you have no golden arrows, or a cool resurrection scene if you have golden arrows. The Creatures in the overworld are a scorpion, wasp, worm, and gorilla. When you reach 4 arrows, you can either stay and fight for more gold arrows, or go to the underworld. When you go to the underworld, your golden arrow count doubles. That is where it is useful to build up the number of golden arrows to around 8 before going to the next level. Don't want to give too much away.
The graphics were moderate for the commodore 64, although the multiple background scrolling and a scene changing from day to night and back to

day made up for the shortcomings. Overall the graphics were something for a machine that supported only 16 colours at a resolution of 160x120. 6 out of 10 for graphics.
The controls were horrible, as you must hold the fire button to aim and quickly tap along with holding the stick in the direction you want to shoot. Sometimes it would change the aim instead of fire, which would make someone lose their aim and possible lose their life and half of the gold arrows. Another flaw is it would actually fire instead of aiming, resulting in the momentary loss of firing more arrows. Given that the C64 only used one button it was forgivable. 4 out of 10 for the game play.
What made up for the weaknesses was the audio, especially the music. It really demonstrated the C64 Sound Interface Device. The sound effects were good as well. 9 of 10 for the Audio.
Another flaw with this game is if a certain key combination is pressed, ‘can't remember which keys' the game had a tendency to lock up, requiring the user to turn the Commodore 64 off for a half a minute, then back on and reload the game.
The best scenes are the resurrection scene and the Intro screen. The graphics and sound are awesome in the two scenes. The intro shows the beginning credits, along with thunder and lightning. After the intro credits have been shown, the title is displayed.
Overall, this game, despite a few flaws is actually a fairly good game. If you want to know more about the underworld level, go ahead and download this game.
