Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 12/08/2007
Blue Max is a great flight combat game that has been based around the WWI. At the beginning of the game you will begin on the airport runaway waiting to be fuelled up and filled with numerous bombs. You will then begin take off, but you must get your plane up to 100 mph/knots or you will be crashing right on the runway watching your plane explore.
The games plot is to pretty much bomb as many buildings, bridges, roads, cars, and many items as possible.
You have been equipped with bombs and a machine gun which both can be used to do this. The machine guns come in handy especially when you are attempting to take down enemy planes, but this can be difficult at times. If you do end up getting hit by enemy gunfire your plane can be damaged in a few areas. Some of these areas consist of the engine, wings, or your weaponry. It will only take five shots to take your plane down, so it’s best to learn fast how to avoid enemy fire.
When you complete each stage you will be taken back to your airbase to land where you will then refuel and stalk up on more ammunition.

This is also when your plane will be repaired if you have encountered enemy fire. When it comes to the landing you have to do this to a tee. If you don’t leave yourself enough room to take off, you won’t be able to so of course you loose that stage. As you get further into the game the enemies will start to attack you even while you are on your runway, this definitely gives an added feel to the game difficulty. Each level will increase in difficulty. At the beginning of the game you may find it to be a little too easy, but once you start getting past the first few levels the game will then become interesting. The further along in the game the more wise your enemy becomes, which definitely makes it harder to take them out and easier for them to get you.
The graphical design of the game has been done pretty basic. Nothing too fancy has been done to the artistic appeal of the game overall, but it does get its point across. Everything is very basic and capable of knowing what it is suppose to represent, and that’s all it really needs to make the game enjoyable.
Blue Max can be a very addicting game right off the bat. Even after you’ve completed the entire game you will find yourself wanting to go back and start over again because it is just that enjoyable. With a game being designed to the extent required, you wouldn’t expect this game to be such a huge hit. With the amount of difficulty that co-insides with the minimal graphics, the game isn’t lacking in any way. If you’ve found yourself enjoying combat games in the past then Blue Max would be a phenomenal addition to your gaming world. There is so much about this game that makes it tons of fun that you will definitely be playing it the rest of your life.

I remember playing this for hours. Bombing and shooting. Trying to refresh my memory for nostalgia sake.
