In the past twenty something years there have been many games invented that all have different plots. One game that sticks out in my mind would be the Boulder Dash collections. This game has been designed to be an action strategy game that does not include over dramatic graphics or sounds.
You will take on the role of a young ant like boy named Rockford travelling through a cave full of mazes. Throughout your travels you will then be collecting diamonds.

You will take on the role of a young ant like boy named Rockford travelling through a cave full of mazes. Throughout your travels you will then be collecting diamonds. There is a certain amount for each level that you must gather to have the exit door open to take you to the next level.
Every time you reach the amount of five hundred points you will then be rewarded with a bonus life. There have been some
intermission games placed throughout the game. These little games are just little bonus levels that are quite simple to complete. Whenever you enter an intermission level you will be given a bonus life, so there isn’t a downside to entering one of these levels.
The game may sound like it’s just nice and simple going around collecting a bunch of diamonds, but throughout the game there are some features that will make the levels sometimes mere impossible to complete. Throughout you may run into walls or boulders that will block your travels, exploding fireflies, exploding butterflies that become diamonds, magic walls, and many more things. There is so much to the design of the games that it is just endless with exciting possibilities.
Boulder Dash doesn’t actually have any upgrades, zero special features, and minimal music and graphics. You would expect the lacking of the overall design to make this game just sink into the world of has-beens, but instead this game became quite popular with the superb levels and amount of thought placed into the design of every single level’s uniqueness.
The graphics have been viewed in a top down viewpoint, which allows you to see the entire level in one screen. This allows you to keep track of where you’ve been without having to go to that area of the screen, which can help a lot. There isn’t too much detail done to the graphics, they resemble your general arcade format graphics, which give enough appeal to keep you interested.
Overall, your main objective of the game is to travel through every single maze collecting all the required diamonds without dying. Simple enough, yet difficult in many ways. If you have enjoyed the wonderful action strategy games in the past and are looking for an all time classic to get your fix on, then Boulder Dash would be a wonderful selection.
