Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 12/31/2007
Several games have been designed with the strangest plots behind them. One very odd game that was designed by Data East Corporation would be Burger Time. During the game you will be taking on the role of a chef known as Peter Pepper. You will have the objective to drop several layers of hamburgers on top of a tray. To do this you will have to walk over the layer of the hamburger while staying away from some of the enemies that will be chasing you throughout the maze.
The game has been designed with several platforms and ladders to allow you to get around to each of the hamburger items. Each of the hamburger layers have been arranged into a vertical stance making it less complicated to drop them upon each other. The layers consist of the bun, the meat patty, tomatoes, lettuce, and of course cheese. When you are placing the layers together there is always the chance you knock more then one layer down. If there is a layer on the platform below the one you are currently getting down, that layer will fall as well.
To complete each level you will have to place together all the layers to complete a hamburger. Once you have done this you will be taken to the next level. When you are wanting to complete the levels a little faster try getting your enemies on top of layers to make the layers go down faster and some times down two platforms instead of one.
When you are going through the levels you will find them to become more difficult. The layouts of the mazes will become more difficult, and the number of layers and burgers you have to complete will also be greater.
You have been equipped with one very interesting weapon to use against your enemies. This would be a little supply of pepper. You will be able to shake the pepper onto enemies that are near you stunning them for a short period of time. When your supply is low you will be able to collect bonus foods to get more pepper. Some of the foods you can collect are ice cream, coffee, and even French Fries. These food items will appear on the centre of the maze every time you have got several layers of your hamburger to drop.
If you are looking for a new interesting game that would have you playing for many hours, then Burger Time would be great for you. This game was a true classic arcade game back in the early 1980’s that many people have enjoyed throughout the years. The game can get quite complicated the further along into the game play that you will soon be laughing hysterically every time one of your enemies kills you.

Damon_intruder (12/23/2007) Burger Time is one of the most addicting games back in the 80's, absolutely loved it. I am so glad to find it again. It brings back good memories.Bit-byte (05/19/2006) This was an intresting game that was out for the Arcade, computer, and almost every console that came out, indeed Burgertime has had a long shelf life compaired to other games of it's time. Made in 1982 by Bally/Midway, you play the role of a Chef named Peter Pepper, your goal is to, of course, make a hamburger by walking across the layers, in turn these drop to the lower levels and must be walked upon again until alll the layers on on the bottom, making a complete hamburger(s) and hence moving to the next stage. Your only arsenal is pepper, in which you use to defend yourself against Peter Pepper's foes Mr. Hot Dog, Mr. Pickle, and Mr. Egg, using pepper on these villians of cusine stuns them for a few brief seconds, they can also be 'crushed' you happen to drop a layer of burger upon them. Burgertime is a very unique game, but eventually get's quite boring later on. |
