Game Review 1 (written by Silverchic89) Added on: 12/02/2006
Chips Challenge is definitely a great computer game. I would recommend this game for school aged children as well as anyone who wants to have some fun learning a new, simple, and fun computer game. Compared to many computer and video games that are available currently, Chip's Challenge seems elementary and has basic and dull backgrounds and levels in the game. However, simple and enjoyable, yet challenging, levels leave Chip's Challenge as a top-ranked game even among the numerous games available today.
I played it even as a young kid and still remember some of the challenging levels and exciting puzzles included in the game.

without much computer experience to use and spend hours of delightful time playing. I can remember running through levels collecting all the pieces I needed to get through the level and before running out of the amount of time given, while trying to avoid the creatures obviously trying to stop me from accomplishing the task. Unlike many puzzle games available currently, Chip's Challenge has very diverse problems for each and every level you go through. I have not played the game for quite a few years and just recently was reminded of how much I loved the game when my brother was playing it on his computer. Just seeing him playing it, made me want to go out and get it right away so that I could go through the levels again and have a great time with a game I grew up with and helped me develop and expand my puzzle solving capabilities.
This game is easy for kids to learn and play, and it's not like other games that waste hours of their time and do not expand their intelligence or problem solving capabilities. My mother, who is very much resistant to computer games and the time spent on those, really enjoyed this game and how it helped our minds expand. I absolutely would recommend this game for anyone that is looking for a fun, mind challenging game for their free time. It is the perfect game for all ages- expanding their puzzle-solving capabilities while still providing gamers with hours of entertainment.

Chips challenge, in my opinion, is one of - if not, the best puzzle game ever. A lot of games call themselves puzzle games but there are no actual puzzles to figure out or, there is a puzzle, but it is the same puzzle over and over again until you are sick of it; not so with Chips Challenge. There are wide varieties of puzzles to solve in this old windows game. There are 149 levels and every one of them is different – and I do not mean that you will get math or educational word puzzles either, just real good figure-it-out stuff. Each level has a time limit too, which, when expired, makes you restart the level adding to the challenge. As well, just to keep it interesting, you will occasionally need to have a quick hand: I fell in love with the diversity!
After playing Chips Challenge many years ago on my friends computer, and then, not even being on a computer until 8 month ago (when I got my very first computer) I was so excited to see what had changed in the way of computer games; what new and improved stuff would I find? Well, I must say, not that much. Most of the puzzle games I downloaded seemed to be either remake of old games, or, they seemed to me like Chips Challenge rip-offs. Often these copycats would make a whole game using just one of the puzzle aspects of Chips Challenge. Chips Challenge is by far the best game ever, yet I think, that because windows offered this program for free, people thought it wouldn’t be cool - sort of like when you had to read a book in school, and so assumed it would be dull.
Now, granted, Chips Challenge does not have all the glitter and glitz of the newer games like ‘Wonderworlds’ (chip has to collect computer chips instead of sparkly crystals, for example) but if it is the puzzle you love then you will not care. In addition, this game unlike newer games does not explain every step to you: it’s a puzzle game, you figure it out! However, don’t believe me: people love this game so much; they made their own, part two. I believe that Chips was the first game to have an editor – a fan, loved the game so much, he didn’t want it to end so he created an editor so he and his brother could continue by making their own levels. I strongly recommend that if you even like puzzles a little bit, you at least try this game!

Chips Challenge is an extremely fun game with excellent strategy. The strategy isn't too frustrating and the game moves along quite nicely.
