Game Review (written by Sonofrepoman) Added on: 12/13/2006
In 1957 a large object from outer space crashed into Earth's Amazon basin, near the ruins of a lost Mayan civilization. Scientists worldwide heralded the incident as a trivial cosmic occurrence, and thus the collision was soon forgotten.
Now thirty years later, rumours of an evil force have swept into the Pentagon's front office and tales from frightened villagers of a hideous being with an army of alien henchmen are sending chills down the spines of top military brass.
Unwilling to upset current political stability, an all-out assault on the region has been overruled and instead, two of America's most cunning, courageous and ruthless soldiers from the Special Forces elite commando squad have been selected to seek out and destroy these alien intruders. Congratulations, pal, you're one of the chosen. But before you take pride in being the best, be warned.
You’re about to come face to face against Red Falcon, the cruellest life-form in the galaxy. He arrived on Earth thirty years ago to establish a foothold from which he will attempt to conquer our world and then use it as a stepping stone toward his ultimate fiendish goal: domination of the universe.
Needless to say, playing hero won't be easy. But you have no choice - you must be a hero. Because if you fail life as we know it will cease to exist, and the vile Red Falcon will rule forever. If you succeed, well it doesn't matter, because I doubt you will.
This game spans through a slew of scenery. From deep forests to snowy mountains, from natural waterfalls to futuristic warehouses, this game will span you from one set of peril to the next. This game has 8 levels of play. You start out in the lush thick jungles of the Mayan forest, infiltrate their first base, climb your way up a waterfall, infiltrate a second base, plough your way through a snowfield, dodge and weave your way through a perilous energy zone, avoid traps in a hanger, and finally take the fight to the evil and mysterious Red Falcon
Don't think you are going into this empty handed. Oh no. Besides the standard issue rifle you carry, you can upgrade in this game with a multitude of weapons, from the deadly cutting Laser rifle to the far spreading Splatter Gun, this game gives you just enough fire power to take down the evil forces.
Action is plentiful in the game as you face non-stop wave upon wave of forces. From simple grunts to giant robot warriors, Red Falcon will throw everything except the kitchen sink at you to stop you from completing your mission. Your warrior has two basic functions, shoot and jump. You would figure with tow basic features, this game would be a walk in the park, but far from it. It will take precise timing, nerves of steel, and a little luck, to pull through.
By today's standards, this game is not a graphical treat. Nor is it the polished version of the game that you may remember on your Nintendo. However, for those looking for a blast to the past, this is the game that can take you there. All in all it’s excellent game! I recommend it to you!
