Game Review (written by Shupperoo) Added on: 04/07/2007
Anyone who knows Monopoly understands the love hate relationship of the game. Now this game is available for the computer! Graphics are a little clearer on this version, but the game play is still the same. Fun and competitive! The graphics are cool and well designed, and the gaming is smooth and mirror the game very well.
Each player takes turns rolling the dice (in this case you can play against the cpu, or other live players) and progressing along the board. You buy properties, sell them, and auction them in order to obtain the main goal: to make the opponents go bankrupt, and win the game! You do this by buying up as much property as you can, and placing real estate on them, (i. e. houses and hotels) to increase profit.
But that’s not all, you can buy up railroads, and utilities, in order to make your foes pay the top price and get the money in your bank!! When you buy railroads, each one you buy is worth fifty big ones, if you have all of them, you get two hundred dollars each time someone lands on any of them!! The utilities, there are two, and you can get up to ten times your die roll if you own both. (Four times the roll if you own just one). These are good ways of gaining some cash!
You can additionally buy houses and hotels for your properties to make that extra little “dig” in their wallets, while making yours fatter in the process, but beware the maintenance fee, for every home and hotel you own, you pay up big-time. So try not to be too greedy!
There is also luck and chance cards to help or hinder your progress. You can even win money for winning a beauty pageant! How cool is that? But be careful, some of these cards will send you right to jail! Where you’ll have to roll double or pay up to get out!
All in all, this game can make you have a great time, or drive you up the all. Either way, it’s definitely worth a spin! Game play is smooth, graphics are good, and it definitely takes you back!
