Dizzy 2

Genre:  Adventure    |     Year: 1987    |     Publisher: The Codemasters Software Company Limited     |     Developer: Namco Limited
Game Review (written by Chrismorbs) Added on: 11/25/2006
The dizzy collection comprise mainly of the games that I have always remembered as they were always so challenging and fun at the same time.
Dizzy is a series of games based around an egg character called Dizzy and he must solve puzzles to achieve his goal and win the game.
In Dizzy 2 - Treasure Island Dizzy, our little hero has unwittingly walked the plank from Long John Silvers ship (after using his spare leg collection for a game of cricket and losing them) and has come to find himself stranded on the sun-kissed beach of a deserted island.
He must the use (with your help) all his wits to traverse the island, dodging its many dangers and solving (illogical but fun) puzzles to make his way back to the yolk folk.
As this is only dizzy 2, the graphics aren't fantastic but they still keep all of the nostalgic charm of when the game was first released in '87. Unfortunately, I can't remember what sort of music/sound was used when I was seven and the version I have from Codemasters now doesn't use music at all, but as it would be created using midi files I have to say this is probably for the best.
My main problem with the game isn't the fact that you can only carry 3 items at a time and that you must carry them in the correct order (it works on a rotating inventory) but that you only get 1 life and if you get something even slightly wrong you must return to the start of the game all over again. Luckily, you can use the CCS64 emulator which gives the ability to save a games progress to a certain point.
Overall, a lovely game full of nostalgic memories for myself. This is a very challenging game but due to its lovely nature is worth a bash at again and again.
If you are looking for games similar to Dizzy 2, first try any of the other Dizzy games. After this you may want to look for games such as Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max HIt The Road or the Monkey Island series. These are all more modern and mostly work on the click and point maneuverability, but have also got the same type of charm and puzzles adventure as Dizzy.

This is Dizzy's second adventure. Dizzy is a cute little egg character who must explore the strange magic kingdom that is Treasure Island, solving problems and puzzels, and end the terror of the evil Pirates that rule the island.
