Game Review (written by Manda1) Added on: 04/08/2007
As with all Commodore 64 games and other games of the 80's, you have to look past the poor graphics of the game to really be absorbed into the fun and absolute addictiveness of this classic game. With Fall Guy the same principle applies: ignore the graphics and enjoy the fun. It's a highly addictive and action packed game based on the retro TV show of the same name.
On first appearance it is a low budget game similar to other maze games like the original Mario Brothers of Nintendo fame. However, once you start jumping on moving trains and experience the other perils of Fall Guy you can almost imagine yourself as a professional stunt double for an action-adventure movie. Of course, the title states it all, as a novice fall guy, you take a lot of falls before successfully navigating your way through to the end.
I played this game as a child and competed with my neighbors and family for the highest score. It truly reaches an inborn need to be the hero and to do the impossible. I have fond childhood memories of this game. Although I was never able to beat it as a child, like other action games, the more you play, the better you are able to hone your skills and improve reaching new and higher levels the more you play. Timing is definitely everything in this game. You will fall really quickly to your death if you don't jump at just the right precise time or in just the right precise spot. However, as previously mentioned, jumping is just one of the Fall Guy skills that were developed more and more and more with each new Fall Guy game you play.
This game is absolutely a perfect fit for the standard of being a classic. So if you weren’t fortunate enough, or even if you were, to play this title when if first appeared on an old Commodore 64 system, I highly recommend this game as a must-try and a must play. You will be instantly addicted and almost ready to try jumping train cars in real life, but I wouldn't recommend doing that. Just stick to the computer generated version of the stunt work and avoid the real life pain and blood until it is truly an unavoidable occurrence or accident. Fall Guy will be your next favorite Commodore 64 classic game even if you never experienced it in its hey day.
