Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 12/10/2007
Fort Apocalypse is a shooting arcade game where you will be in control of a Rocket Copter. You will be attempting to raid Fort Apocalypse, which is a very dangerous prison that is inside Earth’s mantle. While you are in the prison you will be rescuing prisoners and finding fuel and ammo throughout your travels.
Throughout the game you will run into several obstacles, which can put a damper on your travels. Some of the obstacles that you will run into are shields, lasers, doors, elevators and some very nasty obstacles consist of choppers, tanks, and mines.
Each obstacle will definitely stop you in your tracks. With all these obstacles being placed throughout every single level you will always be keeping an eye out for a more preferred root of travel. Eventually you will discover how to get past a few of the obstacles, but you must be careful of what’s on the other side.
Fort Apocalypse has several difficulty levels to be played. Each level will increase in difficulty to keep the game challenging. With the increase in difficulty it may become a lot harder to get through the levels the first time around. If you are looking for a real challenging game, then play this game in the hardest difficulty level. This game will definitely get you on your toes.
The graphical design of the game has been done with a two-dimensional four-way side scrolling aspect. The game has been done pretty basic artistically. There isn’t too much to the overall background appeal, and there hasn’t been too much detail done to any of the objects throughout the game. It does take the arcade like format, which does make this game, somewhat appealing.
Throughout the entire game you will be keeping track of your score at the top of your screen. You will also have a display of your fuel and ammunition. This allows you to keep track of everything while playing. The great part is that when you are running low on fuel it will state to you that you are running low on fuel on the top middle part of your screen. It goes for ammunition as well.
Fort Apocalypse is a great game for overall shooting. You will get the joy of breaking into and out of a prison attempting to save some of the prisoners. The game has been designed with basic graphical appeal, but this does not make the game less enjoyable. Overall, Fort Apocalypse can be a very addicting game, especially if you are attempting to get really high scores. If you love shooting games with a little more flare then you would love this game. You won’t only be shooting, you’ll be rescuing as well.
