When games are based on movies it can become very difficult to get the game to be very similar to the actual movie. Well Friday the 13th did accomplish great game play that was similar to the movie.
With this game you will still have the main enemy being that scary hockey masked man that seems indestructible. During the game you will take on the role of several different counselors of Crystal Lake Campground in the various levels available during the game. The enemy character known as Jason may switch which character he actually is during the game making it somewhat difficult to determine whom he actually is.
In each level there is up to ten different people throughout the level that you will want to protect in a way. You will want to defeat Jason as fast as you can since you will gain extra points for every living person at the end of each level. When Jason gets a hold of one of the people throughout each level you will get to experience the sounds of that murder-taking place. Later on you will get the joy of discovering that horrendous body lying on the ground dead.
To find Jason it is a great idea to search around the campgrounds in search of dead bodies if any or find that one suspicious character roaming about the lands awkwardly. Eventually you will discover
Jason in his disguise ripping off the costume he is wearing to reveal himself. This is when you will attempt to kill Jason yourself which can be a difficult task. When you disrupt Jason’s killing spree and don’t successfully kill him with your first attempt you will officially become his main target.
One really weird part of the game is that you have the ability to go around and revive the dead. You wouldn’t expect this to be possible, but if you go around pretty much killing the killed you will eventually revive them and they will carry on their way. This is a weird part of the game, but that just means at the end of the game when you finally defeat Jason there will be more people still alive then he thought himself.
Friday the 13th is a game that definitely deserves being played at least once in your lifetime, especially if you are a huge fan of the movies. The game can be a lot of fun, but a little repetitive. With the generalized graphics with somewhat grotesque details you will find this game quite amusing the first few times around. Once you discover the best ways to defeat Jason though the game is not too challenging anymore.
