Game Review (written by Rudegirlnikki) Added on: 01/06/2007
I used to play this game back in the day on my Commodore Amiga 500. I was surprised to find it on here (I am new, and didn’t realize how many amazing games you have). I am probably more inclined to loving this game because I spent so much time as a child playing it.
This game is fantastic regardless. Yes, the graphics are a little bit cheesy, but what do you expect from such and old game. The version that I had was full colour, but you can still play this awesome game perfectly even though this version only has a few colours. Also, the controls are a little bit tricky, but you will catch on quickly. You also may feel a bit lost in the beginning because there aren’t really any clues as to what to do, but that passes really quickly (remember, I figured it out when I was a young kid, so I am sure you can too).
This game portrays the typical Garfield attitude quite accurately. You can see what is going through his mind at the bottom of the screen. “I hate Mondays” is a famous quote of Garfield’s, and describes his attitude completely. The idea of the game is to get your girlfriend, Arlene, out of the local cat pound. To do this, you must pick up items that you find lying around your house, the streets, numerous stores, ally ways and even sewers, and figure out ways to use them to your advantage. You also may need to steal items from different critters and people throughout the game.
In this game, you also get to do things that Garfield has only dreamed of, such as kicking that stupid dog, Odie, as well as kicking and that annoying, yet disgustingly cute cat, Nermal. Also for energy and to fill your undying hunger, you can eat mostly any food that you find lying around. You have to think logically in this part though. Do not eat anything that typical Garfield wouldn’t really want to eat, because those items are very useful in to completing the game. There are different ways that you can complete this game, but the same general idea is used. There are a few shortcuts, that you may or may not figure out during the game, but as long as everything that needs to get done is done, you are golden.
Even though there are downsides to this game (such as the graphics), I really do recommend downloading and trying it out. The idea and the storyline are completely worth it.
