Ghosts & Goblins

C64
Genre:  Arcade    |     Year: 1986    |     Publisher: Elite Systems, Ltd.     |     Developer: Capcom
Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 01/30/2008
Ghosts n’ Goblins was released in the year of 1985 and had several sequels after its release.
In this game the player will take control of a knight character that has been called Arthur. You will be travelling through levels defeating many enemies including zombies, demons, and many other creatures of the undead. You will be attempting to get through all of these enemies to save the princess. Through your travels you will find various weapons to utilize, bonuses, and even suits of armour for extra just in case you require them.

When the game first came out in the market it became known as one of the more difficult games to be released in the 1980’s era. If you feel you can play the game in multiplayer mode. This will still have one player playing at a time, just switching between the two throughout the levels.
You will begin the game with a total of three lives. As you progress further into the game you will have the chance to gain points. These points will eventually give you a bonus life. If an enemy hits you twice you will loose one of your lives. The first hit will put you in your undergarments and the second hit will change you into a skeleton.

This is a very comical addition to the gameplay. When the player actually looses a life he will be returned to either the beginning or the last halfway point you reached.
For the levels there are seven levels that you will take part in. At the end of each of the levels there is an end boss that you will be taking on. When you complete all the levels for the first time you will be taken back to the beginning to start over the game just at a higher difficulty level.
Even though Ghosts n’ Goblins was considered one of the most difficult games of its era, it also was one of the most addicting too. There was so much to the plot and gameplay that kept players interested throughout the entire game. Each level will begin to get more difficult, and the player’s abilities will all continuously grow with the game. Take the challenge like many others and defeat these most complicated games of the 1980’s.
