Game Review (written by Mattsa) Added on: 01/02/2008
The graphics are basic and pixilated, but effective and quite neat, especially the little animations when you start the game, when or if you win or lose. Hangman has a surprisingly extreme database of words! With several levels of difficult, ranging from easy words (for small children - ages 5-6) ranging to much more difficult and stupendous words for adults. This can be quite a challenge and it would quite handy to have a dictionary at hand (for guessing purposes).
The gameplay itself is alright, however it can take a while to load new words, etc. It can also be a slight drag constantly having to use the joypad/joystick to move around to select individual letters (I think this goes with many console games, the PC mouse always proves to be a better option when you can help it), and even longer if you want to guess an entire word to add to this, there's a time limit which changes depending on your level and whether you guess any of the letters.
Essentially this is a children’s game however anyone can play this and a special competition split screen mode can be played to enable "two player" mode where you race the other player to complete your word with as little mistakes and if possible without losing the game entirely. Overall, I found hangman to be an enjoyable and simple game to play especially on rainy days.
