I absolutely loved this game as a kid so downloaded it a couple of weeks ago to see if it was still good. My Dad used to thrash me at it but that used to just make me all the more determined.
I can just say it is still a great game. Though only playing it on the works PC on nights and therefore only on keys the game play is still brilliant. Even the voice intro still gives me the creeps "Another Visitor, Stay a while stay for ever" in a really eerie robotic voice, followed by "Destroy him my robots" when you visit certain rooms.

The graphics were way before there tie and animation so accurate for such an old platform.
A lot of these
games have a tendency to seem really easy after all these years, but Impossible Mission seems to retain its degree of difficulty which I guess shows I was a bright kid huh? Either that or more likely have remained thick into adulthood.
The sound is also very atmospheric for it's time, though by modern day standards the synthesis is basic it manages to depict just what the artist is trying to achieve. No wonder as a kid it used to give me nightmares!
They also did a follow up which is available on this quite wonderful site, I myself was never massively into it but it obviously plays along the same theme. I love the bit where you gain lift passes and have to press the touch pads in their musical sequence, it is a piece of cake up to about 4 notes then it tends to all go a bit Pete Tong.
I think it is one of those games that you will be well advised to find the instructions for as working out some of the controls can prove a little tricky, because as well as the normal game play you also have to complete a puzzle from the pieces you collect (if you are at all successful).
To conclude, I would strongly recommend even to today’s wiz kids that they give this one a download you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks very much to the website owners and developers! Nice one.
