Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 12/10/2007
M.U.L.E is an action strategy game where you will be taking part as one of the four explorers who are trying to make a lot of cash on a virgin planet. You will be attempting to produce several items such as food, energy, Smithore and Crystite. All of the goods will have their use throughout the game. The amount you are able to sell will depend on the supplies you have yourself. One of the best goods to produce is the Crystite. This is the one good that will determine pretty much what happens throughout the entire game.
At the very beginning of the overall game you will be selecting your team race. Depending on the race you select will depend on the difficulty of the game. There are a total of three difficulty levels for the game. During the easiest level the game will only be six different turns, but the game is twelve turns on any of the other levels. The Crystite is as well not available on easy mode. Although easy can be simple, there isn’t much to this level, so try moderate to start off so you get the feel of everything.
When you are in game play each turn you will get to claim land. Every single player will get to pick out land, but if two players choose the same spot whichever team has more money will lose. There are several different landscapes, each being just as interesting as the previous. Some areas are better than others for your production of goods. When you want to produce food the river is the best location for this, when you want energy you will want to go to the plains, when it’s Smithore you will want to go to the mountains, and lastly there is Crystite. The Crystite good has been hidden so you will have take samples of the land to find where this good is located. You will need mules to start production of your land. Depending on the amount of your food supply will depend on the amount of time you have for your turns.
Throughout the overall game there are several events that will occur that may affect just one player or all the players. One event that happens more often than others would be your mules going crazy. This can have a great affect on your overall success of the game. There are several other events that can occur, but you will have to play the game to discover these events.
The game can be played with up to four people. You can either play against three computers or three friends. The game is quite simple for you to have friends playing with you since there are not many controls to be used.
M.U.L.E is a very well designed game in many aspects. The graphics are your basic graphics, but the plot of the overall game is phenomenal. There are so many things that can occur that the game is just so unexpected and exciting. The game play is never the same, no matter how many times you take part in the game. There are so many random things that could occur that this game is by far the most unexpected and exciting game that you will ever play.
