Game Review (written by Ohyeah12321) Added on: 05/20/2007
Ah, Pong. Where would we be without Pong? Nowhere. That's the answer. Without Pong, we most likely wouldn't have any of the games of today. Grand Theft Auto? Nope. Golden eye? No way. And certainly not any modern puzzle game. Why? Because. Pong proved it could be done. I mean, Computer Space and Trivia both came first, but Pong was the first major breakthrough. It proved to everybody that it could be done.
This game, though consisting of a few pixels, arranged in a square as a ball, and the pixels that make up the paddles in a straight line. Yes, this was long before the time of playing Halo 2 in HD. This is the basis for all video games. The gameplay itself is quite entertaining and is lots of fun. The game consists of trying to get the ball past your opponents paddle and trying to get 10 points. Seems simple compared to the brain destroying puzzles of other games. It really is that simple. 2 paddles, 1 ball. No tricks or hidden levels or anything. Just the bare necessities to make a functioning game. It has been reproduced hundreds upon hundreds of times, and yet it never loses its touch. Pong is still the greatest.
To think that it was at first, a little experiment in a bar, and it turned into a worldwide phenomenon. It's simply astounding. You could spend hours playing Pong, and still want to come back to it. I think I might have the image of the 2 paddles, the net, the score, and the ball engraved into my eyes (or my screen).
Never has a game as groundbreaking and simply amazing as Pong, and never will there be. If you are looking for a good time, without hours of combos to learn and pages upon pages of instruction booklet to read, Pong is your game. Think about it.
