In the fact it’s an absolute must have download, as soon as I fired up the old trusty win vice emulator and the stunt car racer title screen burst into view. The graphics suit the game perfectly, they are simple but beautifully realized and its still jaw dropping when you sail over even a small ramp, the sense of height is breathtaking and I challenge anyone to say they don't wince a little when the car lands heavily and a hole appears in the top of the cars roll cage superb.
The physics side of the game is also excellent for its age, the car tips and yaws around the track with suitable realism and the suspension acts accordingly during bumps and jumps, it’s brilliantly done. As I mentioned before the cpu opponents take no prisoners and get fiendishly difficult in the latter stages of the game. A special mention has to go to the programmer for his track design they are, and lets not beat around the bush here, awesome each new track has its pant wetting moments, be it the ramps or just one of the tricky turns, every one will sit in your memory as they have mine.
The sound effects will also have you waking up in the
middle of the night in a cold sweat clutching your pillow be it the creaking of your car as you wrestle it around a particularly difficult bend or the sound of the sub frame scratching across the edge of the ramp as you misjudge your entry into said bend, all done to perfection for a game of this age.
