Super Mario brothers is a side scroller originally released for the NES in 1987. Since then it has appeared on all Nintendo consoles and went on to be one of the best games of all time.
Super Mario brothers takes place in the universe of the Mario franchise, this is the first game of Mario ever released. I recently downloaded it on the wii's virtual console, and played through it a few times now, here's my review of super Mario brothers.
You start the game off as Mario in search of kidnapped princess peach from Bowser, to accomplish this you will need to make your way through eight stages, to find and destroy Bowser to win the game.
The stages of the game go up in difficulty as you progress, and make it harder to complete.
Each stage has it own obstacles and enemies, Goombas, Turtles, Etc; obstacles consist of holes in the ground or mushrooms to climb up and lava.
Mario's abilities are pretty limited to simple moves, like only being able to break bricks from underneath, no bum jump or picking up items to throw, the moves aren’t too simple that it affects the game play; it’s more of a challenge to anything else.
The 16bit graphics aren’t that bad to look at, because Mario’s profile it simple it gives him justice and the level is bright, sharp and lots of things is happening on screen all the time. Mario Brothers isn’t about what it looks like
it what’s it represents, if you’re looking for good graphics you’ll be disappointed.
Each level amongst the stages aren’t very long and don’t take that long to get through, if you have played it numerous times before you will have no trouble in completing it quickly and easy.
The lasting appeal of the game is enormous, it’s one of those games that has tremendous replay value, it all depends, the replay isn’t a big experience, but more of a small, easy to get into and straight forward game play experience. If you do get bored there are lots of secrets to find or you can try to beat completion records, to keep you interested for a long period of time.
Super Mario brothers has stood the test of time since its release some time ago, even today it’s still giving people new experiences and is a fantastic and enjoyable game.
