Game Review (written by Zyzzer) Added on: 05/15/2007
The Goonies is by far one of my all time favorite Commodore 64 games. I remember spending hours upon hours playing this game with my siblings. We'd fight over the computer for this one!
The game is 8 levels in total, and they get progressively more difficult as you play. It is based on the movie "The Goonies" and many of the levels require the characters to do things that actually happen in the movie. And although the game is not very difficult (it was much more difficult when I was 5 though!) it does take a little brain power sometimes to manipulate both players in order to pass each level.

Here is how it works: you begin each level controlling one of two characters. In order to switch between characters you hit the "FIRE" button. The objective is to move one of the characters in position that (eventually) assists the other character. Usually this means distracting the enemy, but sometimes one player might need to do something specific in order to help the other character.
For those interested, the first level takes place inside of the crazy old woman's house (sorry can't remember her name right now) and the objective is to take the first player up to the top of the house (using the chair to climb the ladder) to start the money printing press. This will cause the old woman to go outside to collect the money. At this point you need to move the other character down the stairs to the bottom floor. Don't worry, the old woman will not attack you as long as the money keeps coming down. The second character must then knock over the water cooler, breaking a hole in the fireplace. The second character can jump down the stairs. The first character (up at the printing press) must time it so that he can run away from the printing press but still make it all the way down every ladder before the money runs out. Keep in mind that the old woman will become VERY close to getting you before you're able to fall down the hole, but it's definitely doable.
Each level is like that, so have fun trying to figure them all out.
So enough reading, go download the game already! It's GREAT FUN and everyone MUST download this game :)
