Throughout the post apocalyptic gaming world Wasteland became a new creation for the role-playing game fans back in 1988. Wasteland has been set around the mid twenty first century just after a nuclear war that occurred between the Soviet Union and the United States. Many parts of the earth had turned into waste where you are now trying to survive in this horrible world.
As the player you will be in control of a group of Desert Rangers, which is a group of people that were able to survive the horrid nuclear holocaust.
As the player you will be investigating many different disturbances that have occurred throughout the desert. You will start off with four different characters, and by the end of the game you could have a maximum of seven in your group. To get more people in your group you will be recruiting some citizens and as well creatures that are all inhabiting the wastelands.
During the game you will be searching through what ever remains of human civilization that you can find, including the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas.
The characters that have been used in game play have many different aspects to their overall abilities. With each one of your characters being unique in their own way, this
allows you to get a feel for the plot of the game. The characters will all be at different skill levels and have use of different weapons. To gain experience you will have to take part in combat using several different skills to increase your skills to their full potential. There are many different skills that you will be learning throughout game play, for example your players will learn how to get through a locked gate by advancing their Picklock skill. There are so many skills for you to get educational background that makes your characters have endless possibilities every time you play.
Throughout the game you will notice a lot of scripted paragraphs that assist in telling you what you are doing and what is going to happen. Scripted text was quite common for role-playing games, but Wasteland took it to the next level. With this text you will be instructed on what you are to read and what you are told not too. The game has been set up to have a little funny feature to it. The game can tell when the player is actually paying attention because they will get sent to the wrong areas of the game and experience many unexpected events.
The combat scenarios of the game are very graphical and good animated in overall slaughter of your enemies. The combat in itself made this game rated for an older group of gamers, all because of a little blood.
Wasteland has been a very successful game with many awards given to it. This just shows you in itself that the game is very enjoyable. If you have never experienced a role playing game before then Wasteland would be a great place to start off. There are so many great features to the game that you will knowingly love it.
