Game Review (written by Karole) Added on: 03/29/2008 This really takes you back to playing strip poker with the girl next door, if you should been so lucky to have such an attractive neighbour as is included in this game.
It shows its age and the girls certainly deserve better than reproductions using pixels the size of a pin head, but this is what you got in the second half of the eighties. Colours are also restricted to a smallish palette, but when playing with computers with screens a quarter size of what is normal today, the pictures would have looked pretty good.
You get two opponents, Suzi and Melissa, both as I said earlier great looking girls, no matter their stage of undress right down to full frontal nudity. Connoisseurs will appreciate that those were the days when girls used razors for shaving their legs and not much else, and bodily cosmetic enhancement is still years away. You compete against each girl in turn in the classic poker game in which you open with table stakes, then raise for a maximum of three times before being required to draw replacements for discard cards. Both of you start with $100, and each item of the girls clothing given up generates a further $100. In the gamer’s case, items of clothing also can be cashed in for $100. Initial table stake is anted at $5, and you can rise in multiples of $5 up to a maximum of $25. I have to confess that the game is biased to giving you better cards than the girls, and the Artificial Intelligence playing on behalf of the girls is not that bright so you have to be pretty reckless to lose your own pants. You have an audio sound option but seemingly only for the cards being dealt - the girls will give you the odd appropriate comment via a text panel.
Controls predate the use of a mouse, so quick experimentation showed me that the main controls are in the left and right arrow keys which scroll through the possible choices at each stage to be confirmed by use of the space bar. As you might expect for a game of this age, DOSBOX is essential, but gives a fine reproduction once set up. I would certainly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn poker skills in an environment where being a beginner does not get you wiped out in the first few games.
