Game Review (written by Flameproof) Added on: 10/22/2006 Metal and Lace: The Battle of the Robo Babes is a 2-D fighter game like Street Fighter, but with some adult Hentai elements. The controls scheme isn't very good and I never did figure out how to do any of the special moves but some of the other elements weren't bad. I am sure it would have also been much improved if I could have mastered the special moves and combinations, which I didn't. However, if you got together enough money you can just buy enough extras and turn on enough AI that your power suit will beat up you opponent. All the players have a power suit that offers them their strength and fighting ability. With a good enough power suit, anyone can win.
The main setting for the intermission between matches is a bar where all of the other power suit fighters gathers. While it appears to just be a distraction or break in the action, it is very useful. Try clicking on anything and everything in the bar, it will give you lots of freebies like a free power suit, free cash, and even free fighting rounds.
The doorway to the right of the mirror leads to the upgrade and accessory shop, this is where you get all of the normal upgrades you would expect from a power suit or mech warrior like game (i.e. armor, attack, and speed upgrades). You can also purchase batteries here which are important because in the future where this game is set apparently you fix and heal your power suit by plugging in extra duracells.
The door to the left is the power suit sales person. Here you can buy and sell you power suits, this comes in very handy when you just happen to find a power suit hidden under the floor after every match. If it is not useful to you, it can be sold so you have money to spend on something better.
Over all I found the game to be a great way to kill time. I had such a hard time finding the special moves and using the keyboard to control the power suit that I really just kept buying and selling mechs to make money. Then I'd just let the AI I bought beat the crap out of my opponent for me. Of course, the competitors are all manga type females that are attractively done, so there is plenty look at, even if you stink at the game.
Since it is newer the graphics are probably better and the game play is supposed to be alright. All in all I would suggest checking out Metal And Lace 2 first. Then if you want to check out Metal and Lace the original, use a joystick as this may make fighting elements a lot better. And which ever you end up playing there should be some hentai or nude pictures to keep you entertained until you finish downloading another game.

Daenerys (12/02/2008) The game is difficult to play, but worth the initial frustration in learning. The beginning is very difficult, and upgrading is essential, but once you have a decent frame and AI, game play progresses fast, letting you enjoy both the combat, and the storyline.Rusirius (09/09/2006) Had this game when it was released. Still cant get enough of it. |
