Secret Agent is a Commander Keen and Duke Nuke Em style of classic action game that was created by Apogee Software. It was released in the early nineties and was made especially for the DOS operating system. It is a standard action shooter that actually uses the same gaming engine as Crystal Caves and plays out very similarly.
In Secret Agent, the user plays the part of a Secret Agent…Apogee wasn’t trying to trick anyone with the title of this shooter. As Secret Agent 006 (evidently the forerunner of James Bond’s 007), the user will have to work out of a top secret agency in an effort to combat world terrorism and other organized criminal activity. He will partake in a flyover of a remote island and will have to parachute onto the island and avoid or take out the numerous armed guards around the compound. 006 will have to infiltrate the compound, locate the control room, and make it back out of the compound carrying the top-secret enemy plans for a super weapon. The weapon is a super laser with massive destructive capabilities whose plans were stolen from the government and sold to an evil faction with no good intentions. The dangerous terrorist group has intentions of utilizing the plans to build the weapon and take over the world. 006 will have to pull off a brilliant rescue of these plans, avoiding traps and guards, fighting the guards, and possible serving as an assassin against the higher ups of this nasty organization.
One of the largest obstacles in the way of 006 will be the inanimate objects located around the compound. There will be tons of traps and the effervescent security system that will alert the guards to the secret agent’s location. The guards and their subsequent dogs will also cause major problems for the super stealth spy. All types of guards…and there are many, coming in all different variations…have strengths that will present a challenge to 006, but they all have weaknesses worth exploiting. Some of the goons are large, powerful and slow…others will be lightning fast ninjas without a lot of power. Some will fight at range by throwing knives or sniping out of towers. There are five levels of increasing difficulty, but the baddies are basically recycled.
Overall, Secret Agent is a gaming classic that features a very popular look and a successful gaming engine. It has plenty of action and mindless killing, disguised in a decent story line. It is worth a download.

I loved this game. I've played all three versions and it was trickey and hard to play. But it's a lot of fun to play it. You should give this game a try.Poops (04/29/2008)
