The game begins with the main character, a professional thief, breaking into a manor after the previous owner died. You quickly find that you are trapped inside the house, and that there are several other people also stuck in the mansion with you. You need to solve a paranormal mystery as one by one, the other people start dying.
I liked this game most for the fact that despite not having perfect graphics, although they were adequate for the game, it could still make my heart pound during certain scenes and that at times it was truly scary.

I liked this game most for the fact that despite not having perfect graphics, although they were adequate for the game, it could still make my heart pound during certain scenes and that at times it was truly scary. It felt like I was the main character, and that I really did have to solve the mystery in the house. Unlike the sequel (7 Days a Sceptic) which relied
more of blood and gore, 5 Days works more with suspense and the idea that...something might be around the next corner.
Another interesting aspect was that the game took place over five days, and that for each day passing, something, such as a murder, or a paranormal event would occur. For example, one morning, the main character woke up to find his car moved from the front of the house, to the backyard. There was no time limit in the game, however, allowing players to take their time in solving the puzzles. As it played out, others characters stuck in the house with the main one, evolved. As each of the five days past, the characters grew more paranoid with the strange occurrences and deaths.
There was a lot more exploration of the manor and the outer grounds than puzzles involved in the game. Many puzzles involved opening up new locations, which added to the excitement of the game when a new place was revealed.
The only little problem I had with the game was that death was possible and at times almost seemed unavoidable until a puzzle was figured out. Because of this, saving often is a very good idea.
All told, I ended up so hooked on this game that I spent an entire weekend playing it - when I should have been studying for my finals. This is an excellent adventure game, with a wonderful storyline, interesting characters, and a great amount of tension. However, due to the violence in the game, parents may not wish younger children to play. I would quickly recommend this game to all fans of the adventure genre, whether novices or experts.
