Game Review (written by Eric) Added on: 04/11/2008
Amazon is a story-based adventure game that is set in the Amazon forest. The game was released in the early eighties. The best feature of the game has to be the plot of the game which was originally developed by Michael Crichton. Yes, the same Michael Crichton that created famous novels Jurassic Park, Congo and others. Because Michael Crichton is a successful novelist, you can expect that the story of the Amazon video game is also very engaging.

You will play the role of a researcher for the National Satellite Resources Technology Service.
You were sent in the Amazonian Rain Forest to investgate what happened to the group of people tasked to locate of the ruins of the Lost City of Chak. The members of the team met their demise when they chanced upon a cannibalistic tribe. Your partner Professor Benneker also dies. This means you are left to fend for yourself in the dangerous forest where there are cannibals. Your goal is to uncover the mysteries of the cannibal tribe and also make your way safely back to the United States. To help you solve the mystery is a know-it-all parrot named Paco. You will have to go through several levels of various environments to finish the game. You will face many challenges in the game including

the cannibals, wild animals and others.

The graphics of the game were not impressive and neither were the sounds. Telarium should have done a better job to present the plot magnificently. Another game developer would have done a better job. It’s a good thing the game had a fantastic plot line so that somehow made the game interesting and fun. The game is a text-adventure game with pretty good game play. The game is easy to play and there are a number of useful commands that you can use to interact with the other characters and the environment.

When I first played this game in the eighties I enjoyed it tremendously and would often play this for days on end taking breaks only for sleep a couple of hours and to eat a little. These days I still enjoy this game but adult responsibilities prevent me from playing this game that much.

I recommend this game for downloading. It’s a good game that you can enjoy playing for many, many hours. I even suggest that you start playing this game on a weekend so you’ll have enough time for it.
