Asterix- Operation Getafix is a great action adventure game. You will be taking the part of an Asterix. Your goal in this game is to find all the needed ingredients to cure Druid Getafix who had a very heavy object dropped on top of his head. You are attempting to cure him and to do this you must collect all the ingredients for the fix-all potion and take them to him as quickly as possible.
You will be traveling all over in search of the ingredients.
Some of the places that you will search are the village, the forest and in the Roman camp. When you search in the village there is a really good chance you’ll end up paying for the items. When it is time to cook your potion you will head to the left side of the village and place three ingredients at a time in the combining cauldron. Once you feel the potion is complete you can either have a captured Roman try it (like the old food tasters,seeking poison to protect their lords) or give it to Druid. To get money throughout the game for your purchases you have the chance to play dice with the Romans or even the fortuneteller.
To play dice you will require the use of your mouse to shake up the dice and then to throw you must right click. You have a small chance at winning which will get you money and you’ll slowly become richer.
When you are searching through the forest there is a chance you will run into a few wild animals. One of these animals is the wild boar. You should try your hardest to not get hit by anything throughout the game, every time you do you will lose life points. If you’re feeling really brave, attempt getting the boar by attacking him to gain more points. One of the best features throughout this entire game is the ability to fight with the Romans. To fight against them you will have to use your function keys. You will be using F1 to F4 for different functions, each being different ways of attack. The commands in this game are pretty basic to learn. Once you’ve determined all the ways to command your character the game will become far easier. Fighting is not really necessary, and can be detrimental, but it can also earn you points and money. If you are confident in your abilities or your opponent's weakness, go for it!
The graphics that go along with this game are very good for the time it was made. They suit the game in many aspects and have a great appeal for the player. The game is of moderate difficulty and has a shallow learning curve. Once you comprehend what you are expected to do, and determine where to go for items, this game will become a breeze.
