Dizzy: Prince of Yolkfolk

PC
Genre:  Adventure    |     Year: 1993    |     Publisher: Codemasters     |     Developer: Codemasters
Game Review (written by Amigajoni) Added on: 09/01/2007
Dizzy the prince of the Yolk Folk is one of the many Dizzy titles released by Codemasters during the late 80’s and early 90’s. This is the 6th title in the series and follows old classics like; Treasure Island Dizzy, Fantasy World Dizzy and Crystal Kingdom Dizzy. I first played ‘Dizzy the Prince of the Yolk Folk’ on the Commodore Amiga and enjoy it a lot. Since then I have played on the old commodore 64 version and a version on the PC.

The simple controls are easy to pick up and so you can get straight into the game. The gameplay quickly becomes addictive as you go from one room to another. The main character is Dizzy himself and he is an egg

with legs. Dizzy is an adventurous egg and travels around on many adventures. For this adventure Dizzy needs to try to rescue Daisy who has been put to sleep by the evil troll called Rockwort. Daisy is in the castle and Dizzy has got to find her.
Dizzy trundles around the castle with your guidance and can ask creatures advice, get into scrapes and collect things. When collecting things the food items will replenish Dizzy’s health and the stars will give you more points. When adventuring around the castle Dizzy meets both friends and enemies some of the friendly characters include Grand Dizzy the old grandfather like egg, Dozy the ever sleepy egg, and Pogie a friendly teddy bear like character. The enemies you encounter are all members of Rockwort the trolls army.
The graphics are as expected for this age of game, and look a little dated compared to modern games. I personally like the 2d platform style and this is a great adventure game of that genre. I would recommend all the titles in the dizzy series. As well as the other titles in the series I would say similar games would be games like the old Zelda, captain dynamo, monkey island and bart vs the space mutants.
The series of dizzy games is a great series and if you enjoy this game I would highly recommend you trying the others in the series. You could also look to find some of the independently made spin off games which are around and many are just as good as the originals. This is a fun game which children and adults will both enjoy.

This game is really wonderful with good graphics! If you haven't downloaded it yet do it now. Because it's a retro classic everyone should have at least one dizzy game.

I’ve forgot how great the dizzy series was! This is by far the best in the chronicle of the dizzy adventures. Never was able to finish any of them at the tender age I was. But hey, game making at it’s the best.

Magic Island Dizzy was better but like all in this series. The colourful graphics and ease of game play made it very addictive in its time.
