Game Review (written by Ironmike14020) Added on: 01/02/2007
If I am not mistaken this was the first of the series which has now progressed into a huge series of Kroz games. I have seen it several times on the internet now listed as a shareware game and it is worth the time if you are bored. I don't have too much good to say about this game as I don't enjoy it that much. The graphics are well consistent with the mid 1980s games and if you can’t play a game unless it has graphics you should probably skip this title.
As far as the sound you may want to listen to music or turn it off while playing it gets really repetitive and I couldn't take it anymore. However for the few that really like this title they play it almost religiously. It has a smaller but dedicated fan base and has won some awards in its earlier days.
I guess you could say this is a puzzle game of sorts but nothing is too difficult to figure out and I would really only recommend this to people who already enjoy the series or those of a younger audience. You can find similar and better games at some internet game site playing some flash or java web browser game.
Anyway gameplay is basically some

archaeologist running around looking for previous gems or artefacts that sort of thing. If you get touched you lose a gem if you run out of gems well then you die. The monsters can be fought with a variety of whips but they are on a very limited supply. It may be more strategic to let the monsters take a gem if it is not worth wasting a whip on them. The whips can also be used to destroy walls which will certainly be needed in some situations and if you don't have any whips at the time you could be in trouble.
To recap all of this the game is fun in short doses and those who like the series the rogue like games. It is an improvement of games in its genre at this time but is in no way a revolution to the gaming world. The graphics and sound were probably seen as decent for the times but it can really get annoying especially if you just bought one of the next gen consoles. You could probably find more satisfaction in completing some similar flash game in less time and frustration. I am giving this game a 6/10 on this sites rating system as I’ve played far worse games as well.
