The software developers formerly known as Interactive Binary Illusions created Flight of the Amazon Queen in the middle nineties. As action adventures go, it is a simple, easy feel-good type of game without a great deal of complex puzzles or head scratching sequences. It is a game that can be completed by the average adventure gamer in less than two hours, but is still worth downloading for many reasons.
As for the story line is original and is still fun to follow.
The hero of this tale is Joe King. Not only does the game emulate the Indiana Jones games of this nature, Joe King has an air of old Indy to him as well, from his wry grins to his brown leather bomber jacket. Joe has been charged with the task of flying an annoying but beautiful movie star, Faye Russel, to the site of her next film: the Amazon Rain Forest. On the way, his plane, the Amazon Queen, goes down in the dense jungle and the story follows Joe as he interacts with a variety of characters and situations to find his way back out. In the mean time, the mythological Amazons turn out to be very real, and he needs to protect them, as well
as Faye, from an evil scientist.
Handsome, down-to-earth hero is saddled with an incompetent lovely airhead. No, it isn’t a new idea in adventure games or films, and neither is the point-and-click style of game play. However Flight of the Amazon Queen does make of for its lack of originality in other ways. The characters are very well developed and the sound bytes are great. The witty comments of the characters, both Joe and those around him, are always good for a chuckle, and the hand-draw characters were once ahead of their time. It is colorful and interesting, the backdrops are detailed, sometimes with hilarious add-ons, and the cut scenes are nicely animated. The inventory is small and easy to manage and the puzzles are fun, if not completely insane and thematically oriented. They do tend to be somewhat simple and easy to negotiate, but they pick up as the game progresses.
In all, this is a nice game with interesting illustrations and funny details that force the gamer to keep his eyes peeled to locate the answer to the puzzles, and the next good laugh. So I highly recommend downloading it immediately!
