Game Review 1 (written by Fujibayashi2) Added on: 01/11/2010
Gateway 2 is a really cool game. It's a point and click adventure reminiscent of the Spellcasting series. By point and click I mean typing. You can use both. As a science fiction nut, I personally was ecstatic about playing this game. The action gets intense right off the bat, with terrorists trying to kill you. You then find what the terrorists are after, and through about a three hour adventure (real time, if you know what you're doing) avert the dastardly plans of these same terrorists.

I believe the game has aged really well. This is the first DOS game I ever played that had moving cut scenes, akin to in game movies. The quality of the movies is astounding considering when this game was made. I mean they're in 3-D, people! The animation in these scenes is fairly flawless. By fairly flawless, I mean who's going to believe that spaceships can be purple? Oh, well, I guess that's where the fiction in science fiction comes from.
The game itself has a pretty good plot. Personally, I'd like to see a movie made on this, but I'm just crazy or something. It’s written out like a very gripping book: you never want to stop playing until

you get to the end, then you want to replay it just for the heck of it. The story is just that great. I mean it's freaking awesome. Okay, so some people won't think so, but still, I really like it.
There is a certain area of the game that you will spend a lot of time on called the Artifact. It's this abnormal spacecraft. It has these zoo areas on it, that is really, really cool. Ever wanted to know what life is like on a different planet? Well, now you know! You never know, some of the alien terrain may seem familiar.
The most annoying part of this game is when you forget an important item early on in the game, then find out you actually need said item later on in the game when it's impossible to get it. Of course you have to replay the entire game up to that point, which can undoubtedly be more than frustrating. I would definitely have to still recommend this game to any adventure or science fiction freak like myself.

Game Review 2 (written by Rob_jones101) Added on: 03/17/2008
Great game, absolute classic - loved it. I played it once a while ago on an old computer and have been looking for a downloadable version ever since. It draws you in, and it keeps you until the end. The puzzles are not too hard, nor too easy, and there is a real sense of achievement when you work things out, especially if they have been defying you for a while.
There are some cinematics which are great for their time, and the whole game leaves a good impression on me. The plot is a lot better than a lot of modern games, which might just use it as a loose excuse for a gunfight. Whilst the action can be fun, it is refreshing to return to a game with a decent plot to back it. Having said that, there is some degree of action in this - you throw grenades, evade and outwit terrorists with battery-powered light-warping belts, fire high-tech guns at robotic spiders, foil an evil plot by a corrupt Heechee politician, and prevent the capture of a spaceship by the same terrorists from the beginning. Things are sometimes timed - of course if you don't get to the ship in time you're dead. The beginning is action packed, the middle is mysterious and enthralling, and the end draws everything to a good close and leaves you with a feeling of achievement.
I strongly recommend it to any gamer willing to let go of graphics to play a very well put together game. Once again, an absolute classic.
