A small advancement from the first in the game in the Hugo series, Hugo’s House of Horrors, Hugo 2: Who Done It? is a longer game, and just as good (it does not suffer from “sequel-it is”). The plot is a bit more complex than the first one, but this is not detraction at all! The first game is over too quickly, I think, you get more out the second one. Have even more fun unraveling a mystery and solving puzzles.
Play the first one before this one, as some jokes and even characters (other than Hugo, our intrepid hero) are carried over.

Hugo 2 plays the same way as the first game... you move Hugo with the directional
keys on the keyboard (no mouse), and type commands for any actions you want him to perform, like picking up items, using items, or talking to other characters. Use simple commands such as “Open Door”, “Get Key” and the like.
Sometimes you need fast fingers to avoid imminent death, or to solve a puzzle, so do not be a hen pecker! And you have to be obsessive in games like this, “look” under, over, behind and inside everything in every room! Did you look under the bed? What about behind the bookcase? Or maybe behind that portrait on the wall?
I remember playing the first one to no end, and even getting stuck in places and we were thrilled when we found a second one. You have more areas to explore, even a hedge maze (make a map!), and of course, more fun ways to die. The humor of the first is not lost either, you will be “delighted” by false trails and (literal) red herrings, and even more interesting characters to interact with to get clues. And don’t think you escaped from the underground lake riddle man, either! He is back too.
Graphics, while still primitive like the ones in House of Horrors, are a bit improved from the first one (compare the screenshots), and the walking is slightly less clumsy, but just fine for the game irregardless. No complicated UI here, just walk and type and you will do fine!
Oh, and feel free to curse at the maid, she is nosy, isn’t she? Maybe there is a way to get her out of your hair, if even for a moment, hmmmmm?
If you enjoyed the first, don’t miss the second one, by any means.
