Hugo and the Jungle of Doom, was one of the first computer games I ever played, quite frankly it ruined my life. Not really, but it was the game that got me hooked on video games. The classic look at “blank”, pick up “blank” is awesome, I still have the floppy disk I bought from radio shack with this game on it and I still throw it in and play it to this day. For anyone who didn’t like the first boring computer games like worm and Tetris, this was a breakthrough, no, it was an adventure, who wants to be a worm or some imaginary being controlling blocks made up of four smaller blocks when you can be a real person who happened to be in a plane that crash landed in the middle of a dark and mysterious jungle, which is one thing that is extremely fun to play in a game, but would be generally cruddy in real life.

person who happened to be in a plane that crash landed in the middle of a dark and mysterious jungle, which is one thing that is extremely fun to play in a game, but would be generally cruddy in real life. And not only has he crash landed, the love of his life that always seems to be getting in to trouble was with him and she has gone missing.
Hugo isn’t just trying to escape his jungle prison; he is trying to escape his jungle prison with his ladylove, Penelope, alive and kicking. This game has everything, anomalously evil head-hunters, crazy action scenes of Hugo swinging across a chasm on a set of vines, and every type of jungle creature imaginable. Tigers, elephants, snakes, frogs and spiders are just a few that you encounter following Hugo in the jungle.
Hugo one and two were also good, but I don’t think they compare to Hugo 3. The puzzles are much more intricate and challenging, there were parts of this game that I was stuck at for long period of time until I “looked” or “picked up” the right object. The one downside of this game is that sometimes you have no chance to escape certain death or capture, so make sure you save regularly, because nothing is worse than having to live the rest of your life living in a cage in a witch doctors hut, or being caught in a fearsome giant spider’s web. So if you love the classic RPG games like kings quest, or you have played Hugo one and two and you are looking for more romping adventures, get this game NOW! But be careful of giant spider webs and head shrinking tribesmen, because you know they will not like you and Hugo messing around on their turf. Try to escape the Jungle of Doom, if you DARE!
