Game Review 1 (written by Brazenhead89) Added on: 11/10/2007
Little Big Adventure was a classic game for its time, spawning only one sequel and a playstation emulation before disappearing entirely from the hearts and minds of gamers everywhere. You play Twinsen, who rather confusingly lives on planet Twinsun, which has been overtaken by an evil overlord named Dr Funfrock, a nasty piece of work who has made it illegal to speak of Sendell, who is the planet's goddess. It's up to Twinsen to put an end to this nefarious scheme, and save the world.
For the time, the isometric, almost hand-drawn looking graphics were pretty spectacular, and Twinsen himself animated fluidly.
There were also a number of different animal like races living on the planet, each with their own little quirks and behavior. The game was also pretty epic, spanning 12 different worlds. The gameplay was pretty original for the time, with the player activating Twinsen's moods with the switch of a button, these included normal - handy for interacting with the environment. Aggressive - for when you just have to beat anyone who gets in your way into a pulp. Discreet - for sneaking around enemies, hiding in things and generally being a bit of a thief, and finally athletic - for those times when there's nothing to do in the situation than do a runner before things get worse!
These little differences

in Twinsen's mood are what make up the bulk of the game. In the opening sequence, you'll need to turn aggressive to beat up an oncoming guard, sneak away from your prison cell with the discreet command, then run from gun turrets with the athletic command. You'll eventually leave by hitting discreet mode and hitching a ride on the back of a truck. Although outdated by today's standards, back then it was highly original, and later on made for some even more complex puzzles and situations which were all tremendous fun to play through.
The few problems the game has are the voice acting, which was translated from a French transcript perhaps rather hurriedly, and sounds lame. Also, in tight and difficult situations the controls can be a little stiff, leading to some unneeded frustration. Otherwise, this, and it's sequel, are true modern classics and come highly recommended

Game Review 2 (written by Cbdman25) Added on: 02/16/2007
I have always been a fan of the LBA games; they have inspired me in many ways. Dark story line, interesting characters and inventive environment have made a perfect game. This is proof that sometimes designers don’t need to create fantastic graphics or big monsters, guns or RPG elements to make a good game. It was made ages ago, I don't know when, but I can say, that it's even better than some modern games.
Graphics:
Little Big Adventure has two graphical styles. The map, in which you run around, is isometric, but the characters are in 3D. You might think this is confusing, but, actually, it's quite satisfying. It doesn't look too shabby either.
Sound:
The music in this game is brilliant. Nine tracks of atmospheric pieces, which really set the mood.
Game Play:
You have four different modes of game play, which affect what your character, Twinsen, can do. They are: normal- you simply walk around, athletic- you can run, aggressive- you can beat up people and discreet- you can sneak past people. This opens up new game play opportunities and you start to discover new fields of thinking, when it comes to any confrontations. Do sneak past? Do you run past? Do you beat them up?
I think this game is brilliant! It has its occasional comedy episodes, alongside the dark storyline, and it makes the game almost perfect.

Simply put, LBA (Twinsen's Odyssey) is one of the best games ever made. Great story and characters, really interesting background, lots of humour and eye-candy 2D graphics. If you've never played LBA, try it NOW!

I played this game years ago with my dad when I was a kid, it is much better than any pc ps2 xbox or any other game in the shops now.
