Game Review 1 (written by Chrissi) Added on: 11/19/2007
Rise of the Dragon is a futuristic adventure game where you are trying to find out what is killing the inhabitants of the city. In the beginning of the game you will see a woman buying a drug, which ends up horribly disfiguring her and dying. The character you are playing is called ‘Blade Hunter’ who is a former cop who became a private investigator. You receive a call from the mayor and find out that the girl who died was his daughter.
In the introduction the villain is shown and he is behind this drug and his aim is to gain power and rule the world.
The game does have a time limit placed onto it making it a little difficult trying to beat the clock. You will be controlling the game with your mouse. The right button will examine objects and the left button will allow you to pick them up or use the object. The cursor will change to the certain things you can do at the time such as become a text bubble to talk to people or a hand to pick something up. There are a few items that may not show up with anything because they are usually hidden items. It is

best to investigate thoroughly or you may miss some very important items. Clicking on yourself will show your inventory and the items that you can use on yourself such as clothes and weapons that you would like to use.
You will have a lot of conversations with people throughout the entire game as you are investigating a murder. There is a multiple-choice menu that will pop up during conversation allowing you to select what to say. Select your choice of words wisely or you may push people away by questioning them too hard and not get cooperation from them.
The graphics in the game are hand drawn pictures that have been digitized instead of the use of life actors. The game has a comic book look, which was great for the creators choose of design. The music goes well with the game as well. Most areas of the game will have some kind of music playing. There are not as many sound effects but this doesn’t matter too much since there is wonderful music playing. There are two arcade sequences added onto the game, both are side-scrolling shooters. They are not mandatory to complete, but they add onto the story so you may want to give them a shot.
Rise of the Dragon is a well-made game plot wise and graphically. This game has gone above and beyond to keep the players interested with so many options of things to do. The futuristic settings and the voiceovers are phenomenal giving the game this great feel. Rise of the Dragon will definitely keep you playing for a long period of time as it’s not too difficult, but not too easy. Would recommend at least attempting this game, especially if you enjoy futuristic adventure games.

Game Review 2 (written by Krimsynn) Added on: 09/23/2007
This game is easily one of the best old school games I've ever played as its so easy to be sucked into the character. You play the role of a private investigator, hired to look into a series of strange mutations, caused by a new type of illegal drug that's been hitting the streets.

Rise of the Dragon has a super interesting dialogue with a plot to match. It is a fresh concept in an adventure game and the investigations are challenging. The puzzles in the game are interesting and mostly well-placed. To make the game a little bit more interesting, the designers have included some mine games that are more based on action than adventure gaming. They come in the form of side scrolling shooters, which is a nice change of pace from all the hardcore gumshoe business.

With everything taken into consideration, however, the best thing about Rise of the Dragon is still the well-developed characters and storyline. As the characters interact with one another, it is very much like watching a mystery or police movie that you are directing.

Take one part point and click, mix it with the awesome characters and plot twists and throw a sidescrolling combat minigame or two into the mix and you get this awesome game. I definitely recommend this game to anyone.
