Wow! Where to begin?! Well, guess I should start out with its release. It was released in 1993 by Lucas arts for dos on both floppy disk and cd rom. Later on in 1995 it was also released for the mac. It runs on the SCUMM ENGINE. And it is the ninth game to run on said engine.
The fist time I really played this was shareware version which really limits game play. Upon playing the full version I came to realize that the full version was much more fun.

The story line is kinda crazy. Sam and Max are private investigators who have been commissioned to find Bruno the Bigfoot (a kidnapped circus performer). As it turns out another performer (Trixie) has also gone
missing. So as the title implies, Sam and Max will hit the road to travel across the United States to solve the case!
As a hardcore Sam and Max fan I must say that this game is a great predecessor to the newer Sam and Max Releases! It, like the new ones, is a point and click adventure game. Simple as that you point and click. But in addition to that it also features some fun and sometimes rather odd mini-games which add to the amount of fun this game has to offer. The graphics are rather interesting and cartoonish but great none the less.
You will play as Sam (the dog) and you'll have to interact with your environment and the characters in it to discover the plot elements and solve story related puzzles. Max (the rabbit) will accompany you and make snarky comments and if you talk to him sometimes he will give you hints. Granted they aren't very good hints. But they are hints none the less. It features some hilarious dialog made by both Sam and Max. Some of their, sometimes random, commentary had me laughing so hard it brought tears to my eyes.
It was designed and written by Steve Purcell, Sean Clark, Collette Michaud and Michael Stemmle. Also this game has been commonly "awarded" for its ungodly amazing amount of humour.
I guess the bottom line is that this is a really great game that is not to be missed by anyone.
