Game Review (written by Wally2g) Added on: 12/31/2008
In this game you play a role, which is told, by one of the best detectives back in the day, Sherlock Holmes. This game is based on a novel called ‘Detective Sherlock Holmes’. It is based in the year 1887 in London, England. You start the game with the detective stumbling upon a rather intriguing line in a newspaper about the London tower being shut for some reason, and then he is asked to investigate the theft of the Crown Jewels, figures.
You play as Dr Watson on a mission to find the thief and retrieve the Crown Jewels before 48 hours, as the government will have to announce that the jewels were stolen. It was suggested by Sherlock that Dr Watson should chase the thief. I am not going to say any more about the story, as this is just a review and it would spoil the game.

This game is very good as it provides a decent amount challenges. You have to pay so much attention to the trail to find evidence to catch the suspect. Sometimes if you miss one important detail, the game will carry on but you would have missed something that could have brought you closer to the your suspect whereas

in other Sherlock Holmes games like ‘Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of the Mummy’ you kind of have to find every detail before you proceed further in the game. It is much more enjoyable though as you can play the game several times and it will be different depending on what you do. Your goals also are timed so you have to act quickly and think fast, whereas in Mystery of the Mummy, you had all the time in the world, which was not bad. The timing thing kind of took away the whole mystery solving feeling as it was more like chasing your goal rather than solving it, but do not be put of as it still is a very strong game.

I have played and enjoyed this game thoroughly many times and I could always go back and play it again. This is a definitely must play game, if you have enjoyed any of the other Sherlock Holmes games or if you like solving complex mysteries and squeezing the muscle in your head. I also like the fact that it is based on the novel as I have read it, as I am a fan of Sherlock Holmes. It is more exciting to play the game if you have read the novel, as you would be living the novel and seeing it from all angles.
