Game Review (written by Nosoupforyou) Added on: 09/07/2006
I first played space quest 2 back in 1993 on our 386 (which we actually thought was pretty cool back then.....). I had already played space quest one and thoroughly enjoyed it and had much anticipation for the sequel. At first you find yourself at the site of your crashed spaceship, (this is funny if you have played the original) in a huge junk pile. Your first impression is that the graphics are of the same quality as the original game (space quest one) but as you play you realize that even though the pixel ratio is essentially the same, they have spent more time improving on the colors and the quality of the in game cut scenes.

humor is the same as the original (as it is with all the space quest series) and I find that it is the main element that keeps you interested and motivated. The small puzzles are interesting and sometimes fun though at time I found it frustrating (i.e. the carnivorous plant scene, you’ll see what I mean) and because of this you will need to save the game lots in order to not find yourself back at the start, or your previous save game which can be just as bad. The controls are the same as the original and it keeps the classic written text command bar for the more complex actions. In summery, if you played and liked the original space quest, then I thoroughly recommend trying this sequel as it is every bit as good, if not better. For those who are unfamiliar with the Space Quest series I still recommend it even if you are not interested in the original as it is a well written and amusing adventure game that will leave you wanting to download the next one, which incidentally I believe is also available on this wonderful website. Enjoy!
