Woodruff and the Schnibble of Azimuth is a classic adventure game in the style of the old sierra games like Kings Quest, Space Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry. This game is seen by many as the 4th entry in the classic Gobliins series, although it sacrifices the multiple character gameplay the series is known for, and instead provides you with a single player adventure with the spirit of the Gobliins series. Essentially the story is: Woodruffs father has disappeared and you have to find out why.

Essentially the story is: Woodruffs father has disappeared and you have to find out why. There’s more to it, but as with all these adventure games, you really have to experience the story because that’s the whole basis to the game. The game just keeps getting sillier, and sillier, and by the end, it seems as
if the developers were trying to appeal to either young children, or teenagers with a healthy appreciation for absurdity.
There are a few ways this game is somewhat unique, first of all it has a very goofy sense of humor, that will put a smile on your face the whole time you play. All the puzzles in the game reflect this fact and in a way that makes the game almost punishing hard in some spots. In another way, although not unique in adventure games, is somewhat unique in sierra - you cannot die which is nice to an extent, and lets you try everything although this might put off some of the hardcore contingent of the adventure gaming community.
Fortunately though for these people the puzzles are brutal, and they might not die in the game, but they’ll be killing or at least maiming themselves in real life. There is however one place in the entire game I found you could die but its not really so bad, and to be expected plus you can restart over and over in the same spot so its not like it screws you over however with a guide, this part still was incredibly frustrating, and made me want to tear my hair out on several occasions. So be warned.
Aside from this, I would definitely recommend woodruff to anyone who enjoys classic adventure gaming. You owe it to yourself to check out this underappreciated gem. However be advised that it is quite difficult in some spots, and highly frustrating.
