Game Review (written by Ganoros) Added on: 11/29/2006
I remember playing this game when I was only five. This game is very good the game play is very fun, although being only 8 bit graphics. You go around shooting little alien things and they die then you saved people. It was two player and was rather fun in total. They had weapon pick ups and power ups in the game. "The original is fun because it is fast, colorful, and has great sound. Those are pretty much the ingredients of a great overhead shooter.

The NES port is not only lacking in graphics and sound; the gameplay has none of the feel of the arcade game. Both the player-controlled characters and the alien opponents move SLOWLY. There is no sense of urgency in

this version, as you have ample time and face weak opposition while you hunt for human victims in need of rescue.
Playing with two people might be fun for a while, but there is just no reason to play Alien Syndrome when you can play a fast and fun game like Contra instead. The music is not inherently bad, but it is totally inappropriate in the context of this game. It's actually very quiet and slow while you are rescuing your comrades, and then it just barely picks up a little bit when you are trying to escape from the facility before it explodes.
The overall sound of the NES port pales in comparison to the adrenaline-pumping soundtrack and frantic ''Hurry Up!'' and ''Go to the Exit!'' voiceover announcements of the arcade original. Alien Syndrome is Tengen's NES conversion of a classic arcade game by Sega that seems to have been inspired in equal measure by the video game Robotron and the Aliens movies. The arcade version is quite a blast to play, but the Tengen port manages screw up just about every aspect of the game. Let's take a look at those aspects individually. An abysmal port of a fun arcade game, Alien Syndrome for the NES is a total dud. This is what they say about it. This is realy harsh on the game in the fact that it is old come on be nice, sega/nes/pc games back then were not really good nor would they every be able to compete with games from this day and age. I still say this game is awesome. I give it a ten out of 15 for game play and fun!
