Atomic bomberman is definitely a game for the person with a child at heart. From the first time you play this brilliantly thought out and engineered game, you will be hooked. I played for the first time about six years ago. I had late night 'game offs' with my younger sister that lasted well into the night. There is nothing like the excitement and edge of your seat action filled thrills that you experience while playing this game.
I wouldn’t recommend this game for any one who is faint at heart. How ever I would recommend this wonderful work of art for any single person that is sure that they want to experience a fun filled game that they will never forget. I do advise you that the chances that you will be hooked on to bomber man atomic version are very high. Every time I shut my eyes, all I seem to be able to see are those extremely artistic creatively coloured bombs. Oh, and don’t even get me started on those little creatures that hatch out of the eggs.
The only thing that pays of is patience. You have to be very patient and definitely let strategy play a big role in this game. Though it is extremely fun and action packed, you can not let the inner child in you take over. If you don’t go in to this game with a well thought out game plan, a quick demise will be a promise in your near future. I also think that the many different characters that you have to choose from is awesome.
A few years back I actually owned a Japanese version that I purchased to play with and in the company of my younger sister for our play station. I will continue to be a faithful bomber man atomic player and purchaser. I am proud to say that I have turned many people on to this lovely game. Back to my original reason for writing this, you really can’t go wrong with atomic bomber man. You can purchase this game for a ten year old, and be extremely successful, however you can have just as successful a victory if you were to purchase this game for that of a forty year old person.

This game is a great Bomberman game. It was the first computer game I ever bought, and it's still installed on here (I got it in 4th grade, I'm a 12th grader now). Wicked fun when you're playing with other people. It's like the classic game: you just choose a map and blow each other to hell. You can play single player, but there is really no point... it's kind of like playing solitaire, which means you're playing alone because there's nothing else to do and you're bored out of your mind. Sure, blowing up the computer guys is fun, but they can kick your ass. They're programmed to know exactly when bombs will blow up, so they can just stand in a safe spot and rush out at the perfect moment for them to do so. Then you die.
You can turn on a feature called "Gold...something". What happens is, once a player has the required number of kills in a round, they get to play a game to get a powerup - or a powerdown (skulls). Skulls aren't always bad, but some will pretty much doom you. There's one where you get loose bowels and you automatically drop all your bombs when you're moving, so there's a bomb trail behind you. You're gonna die. There's another one where you can't lay any bombs at all. As with the one above, you're gonna die. One of my favourites is the super speed one. If you happen to be lucky enough to get this one, you get a major speed boost and you really don't have to worry about being chased down. One of the perks of skulls is that when you touch another player, the disease spreads. It's especially fun to do this when you have the loose bowels, uh, "powerup."
Sadly, there isn't a story mode. But who cares? You can choose your colour in this game!
There are a good bunch of maps to choose from. One of them has conveyor belts that will move you and your bombs...not always a good thing. You can be trapped easily in this map. There's one where there's holes in the floor. When you go in one, you come out another one.
One of the best parts of this game is the hilarious voices. You will laugh your ass off playing the game, because every time you get something, Bomberman says something psychotically funny. Also, when a player dies, there's always a funny animation. It's random each time, so you'll have loads of fun EVERY time you play.

After reading Druggist's review on Atomic Bomberman, I downloaded the game and became hooked on the spot. I laughed my butt off after hearing Bomberman's sarcastic remarks. I will warn you in advance. The single-player mode is very tough. You have to be very quick to beat the CPU opponent. I always ened up losing in the "best of" matches!
